How did you feel about his choice to live like he did? It would have worried me so on one hand but then on the other I would have also been secretly kind of proud that he was brave enough to do it. Your Dad had a good heart given the turtle fiasco.Lillyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14597193176450931002noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945783876327380823.post-25996369908971650262009-03-16T19:49:00.000-04:002009-03-16T19:49:00.000-04:00So Foster was a bit of a mentor hermit - there's a...So Foster was a bit of a mentor hermit - there's always someone to look up to...
So did your Dad stop drinking at that point?

More more, tell us more...Delwynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16813713107604750354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945783876327380823.post-16456321313894148542009-03-16T15:42:00.000-04:002009-03-16T15:42:00.000-04:00Keep going I am fascinated!Keep going I am fascinated!Sarah Luluhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05884012730205363096noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945783876327380823.post-44629966144312786922009-03-16T13:42:00.000-04:002009-03-16T13:42:00.000-04:00You dad would have bee proud of me. I once put my life on the line beating this big burly guy to a big burly snapping turtle that was crossing the road.

The man was going to make soup out of the turtle. I was going to take it home and release it into the river.

Each of us stood our ground for a few minutes, but I was faster than he was and, with towel in my hand, risk loosing my fingers as I swooped him up.

I threw the trutle into the back of my then-VW, and took off, leaving the poor man with no supper.

The turtle swam happily away after I removed him from the car. I had him bite down on a stick before I put the towel around him to remove him. He was one big turtle! I could lost a whole hand, and never met you!

Nice story.aurbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04234712574405718245noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945783876327380823.post-83601213491634610052009-03-16T07:58:00.000-04:002009-03-16T07:58:00.000-04:00I would think that your Dad would make the ideal t...I would think that your Dad would make the ideal topic for your book. Have you read any of the Carl Hiaasen books about Florida? Wonderfully enjoyable and readable books. Your Dad's story would be great for a book like Hiaasen's. Let me know when you get your tome published. If it is anything like your blog posts, it will be a best seller.Si's bloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10175544032803867701noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-945783876327380823.post-17472716787634774062009-03-16T07:17:00.000-04:002009-03-16T07:17:00.000-04:00Truth stranger than fiction. Wow, I hope that he "accidentally" shot one of those big old rednecks in his redneck to teach him a lesson. Some people are such jerks and probably wouldn't even be missed. Who knows what happens to people like that when they wander down into the swamps drunk anyway........
This is the stuff that great books are made of B&B and I don't know why you don't write one....I'd buy it. And of course I'd show up to your book signing and stare at you aimlessly and forlornly around the corners until they made me leave the bookstore......
I see where you (or Bagman tried to call my cell phone about 20 times last night during the middle of the night.
