Mostly just shots today -- sunrises and sunsets tend to stand on their own without lots of explanation. Most of these are actually fairly new and shot near and around Charlston.
Having said that, I'll start with a very old one shot in Newport, RI circa early 1970's
The next group were all from Jeckyl Island...Georgia, but not far from here. It's a special place for Karen and I.
The below was shot in Georgetown, SC -- two towns north of me. I have always been interested in this factory and driving back from a meeting in Myrtle Beach one late afternoon, I realized that I might...might...be coming in around sunset. If I hurried.
BAGMAN: "You were just looking for an excuse to speed with the top down!"
Anyhow, I loved the ride, adrenalin flowed, I passed no cops, and arrived in time for only three of four shots. A little atypical for sunsets, but...
And I'll close with one I have posted before but decided to revive it...it was heavily photoshopped, combining three images. This was before I finally purchased a new Photoshop program and so I had to cut out the spaces between the branches meticulously by hand...hours of work. I don't think, now, that it was worth it but the exercise was interesting.
It was worth it......:)
ReplyDeleteAwesome.I love all of them. :D
ReplyDeleteOh the crows ...and the smoke stacks ...fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI love the first one most, simply stunning!
ReplyDeleteI kept on saying oh my as I scroll down the photos from top to bottom. Your photos made me to have a great romantic feeling. Oh my. I really love them all in different angles!
ReplyDeleteI do like the one with the smokestacks. Not your ordinary sunset photo.
ReplyDeleteYour really getting to be an expert at photoshopping. The image of the crows is very dramatic. But like Nancy, I think I like the smokestack photo best for its originality and for making me realized I have seen similar smokestacks, lit up by the sunrise, without appreciating their beauty.
ReplyDeleteThey are all just stunning!! The last one - is just wicked wonderful!!! Very cool!! Have a great weekend, Sarah
ReplyDeleteThese are all so good. I like the smoke stacks like everyone else, but I also love the first photo. There's just something dramatic about it.
ReplyDeleteWhy am I thinking of Hallowe'en and Edgar Allen Poe Right now? Is it the gnarly branches, the Nevermore Tree, the pumpkin orange skies I'm admiring or could it be the Jeckyl Island pics? Something here is Hallowe'enish. Stunningly beautiful Mark. Thank you. =D
ReplyDeleteMark, you have captured some wonderful shots here. The sun peeking through the tree in the first photo is beautiful. It is one of my favorites among the shoot outs I have seen thus far. I really like the last one too. I feel like It could be a scene from an Alfred Hitchcock movie. They are all great.
ReplyDeleteI love the last shot, and I agree that hand cutting the negative space is a pain!
ReplyDeleteYowza - that first shot is a winner! I think it is my favorite of all I've seen so far. The last shot is very cool.
ReplyDeleteI love the one of the sun setting behind the tree...what an awesome combination of colors!
ReplyDeleteThe smoke stacks, yes. But I'd love to hear your full story about the crows lurking in the deadened tree as the darkness of night approaches. I just know there is bad stuff waiting in the night!! Maybe one of your "out of bed" dreams! :)
ReplyDeletewow - your photos are amazing - love the first shot.
ReplyDeleteVery original and not like the 'pretty' but simple sunsets most of us, well me, post. I am slowly learning the photo software that I use, but I my approach is a bit heavy handed.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and I am partial to Jekyll Island. Some beautiful sunsets and sunrises can be found there. You got them just right.
ReplyDeleteLoved the very first one and the smoke stacks...but they are all wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI love the shots through the trees or roots. all wonderful shots! have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteLove the trees, roots and crows too!
ReplyDeleteLike a true pro. I love that smokestack. You are truly a wonderful photographer, Mark. And a equally good writer. Must be nice to have two companion talents. I can write, but it does not come easy. Takes me two weeks to write a story correctly. Naturally, I spend 5 minutes on my blog post. Scary.
ReplyDeleteI love them all, each is fantastic in it's own way.
ReplyDeletegorgeous shots. my favorite is the first one. Such patience on that last one
ReplyDeleteUndoubtedly the best collection of the week in my view. Well done.
ReplyDeleteAmazing pictures (especially like the factory and the birds on the limb)!
ReplyDeletei really love the first image' it catches my attention first' Great perspective! : )
