Friday Shootout - Scavenger Hunt (Metal, Wood, Rock)

ROCK

In the historic downtown area of Charleston there are still some original cobblestone streets dating back to the Civil War.

WOOD

Near Shem Creek (where there are some great places to eat shrimp) in Mount Pleasant there are some wooden walkways that have been placed over the marsh so people can walk out for the view and to work up an appetite.  I suppose I could also use this for metal since the Ravenel Bridge is in the background but I want to use another for metal.

METAL

The Ravenel Bridge going into Mount Pleasant.  This bridge was built five or six years ago to replace the two scary old bridges from Mount Pleasant to Charleston.  It was named for Arthur Ravenel, the State Senator who arranged for the money to build it.  Charleston is one of those crazy political places that names things for people who are still alive.

  3. I'd love to use those wooden walkways for running, or just walking, it sounds like a great place to be out in the open. And the cobblestone street is incredibly well-preserved!

  7. I like the double bridge (foot and modern) Panama has a simular bridge up stream from the canal.

  8. I didn't know you in Canada and America play pock up sticks. When I was young, we recycled old umbrella frames, and used them to play. I think they were better than the new set I bought.

I played with my soblings and boy, did we cheat!!!!

This set is very skinny made up of satay/kebab sticks.

I got my 15 year old son to play with me. We played one day, and then we stopped.

  13. ♫ Just kicking down the cobble stones.
Looking for fun and feelin' groovy. ♫
The word cobble stone always brings that Paul Simon song to mind for me! They're lovely to look at, although not so comfortable to walk on (or drive), in my experience ;) - Love the wooden walkways in marsh-land!
