Friday Shootout -- Hometown main street

I will be driving back home from vacation on the day of this shootout but want to participate even if only a picture or two. Mt. Pleasant doesn't really have a center or a main street because it is just a sprawl of subdivisions across the Cooper River from Charleston.

Charleston, SC has a definite center. The Four Corners of Law. I have no pictures of it and am not there now. But two blocks from the center is the market. It used to be the slave market and it is now the tourist mecca market...stalls and stalls of vendors. I do have one shot of it in action and another shot which I think I posted awhile ago, so forgive me if I duplicate something...I took at night when it was empty.

And then there is the main street center of Mark...that would be my office at work and I'll post that just for the fun of it. I can't remember if I've posted that before either. Old age makes me repeat things.

  1. That was short and sweet, I especially love the 2nd photo even if it was devoid of.. humans LOL.

  2. You did post the empty market place photo before and I liked it then too and wondered what it was, now I know.

And prayer said for the slaves who were once sold there.

    Happy Easter!

  3. B&B...I've been to the market in Charleston during the day and after hours, you captured both times perfectly!
Please don't apologize for repeating anything, chances are I forgot if you had already posted the pictures!

  4. Interesting plant in that last photo...it appears to be leaning AWAY from the window. (Yes, I am a plant addict.) It also is a little huge...don't you think?

  6. I like Airman Mom have been to the market. I looked everywhere for you and Bagman last time I was there to no avail.
Superb shots, of course........as you are a photographer extrodinaire.
I'm ready for you to come home anyway.....I'm weary of driving around your house while the lights are off and no one's home darlin. The thrill of vouyerism (it that even a word? Don't think so but...) is only electrifying when someone is actually there to watch......
Have a safe drive and, call me dude.....seriously.....

  7. What a pleasure to see where the titanic battles between Butler and Bagman take place, where magical fingers turn their disputes into hilarious blogs. As Tabor pointed out, even your plant turns from the light to bow before you.

  8. I like very much the photo of the empty market - I will show you some day a BRASILIAN empty market - still dirty - stil chaos. Yours looks like a prision - is our market driven economy a prison???
sorry too much sleep last night.

  9. Yes, of course our minds are in perfect sync. I think couples in love would be a great subject. Now, who can we pay to pick it and more importantly, how do we get a shot of Bagman and I together without the spouses butting in to say "Don't stand so close", "Stop stroking her hair like that". "Geez, you guys wipe all that drool off your faces and stop all that heavy breathing". Gawd........their so darned bossy sometimes aren't they????

  11. I haven't seen these photos, and I really liked the empty market one. It looks so foreboding and the silence looks thick, like the walls have stories.

    Great shot!

  16. Your getting a little boring with Bagman gone. Yawn.

Just kidding. Nice post, and you get an A+ for being on vacation and still participating.

I've been to the market many times. Used to vacation a lot around your area. It is a busy place.

I like the office of Mark, Mark, Butler, and Bagman (had to make it 4).

    Yawn.

  17. I'm so pleased you posted the pic of the empty slave market again. You included it on your blog down the bottom and twice the size, and without caption, some time ago. It carried an amazing impact on me then. I looked and looked and felt and felt.
It was as though serious things had gone on in that space - and how right that sixth sense was ...
Why did I not ask you then what it was? Maybe I know you better now ...
    Cheers

  18. I love the market in Charleston. Charleston is one of my favorite places to visit and I haven't been there in a few years now, time for a return trip.

  19. The main street center of Mark is awesome. I seldom see indoor street. The market place is quite similar to our Dongmen Beilu here, i mean the stuffed toys they sell and the way they sell it.. Thanks for sharing. Hope you had a nice vacation.

I like your idea of the Butler and the Bagman.. Just like the interpretation of the "Id" and the "Ego". I just wonder who between the two is the id and which is the ego..

Have a nice Easter my friend.
